F.J. DAWSON LTD., was founded in 1861, and initially traded from Broad Street, in Birmingham until the 1950’s, when the site was compulsorily purchased by Birmingham City Council, and then the company moved to a larger site on the corner of Wheeley’s Road, and Islington Row, where unfortunately we suffered the same fate again in 1971, and had to move for the third time.

 

So from 1971, we have been based at our shop in Gordon Road. Harborne, and have traded there as Locksmiths, Key-cutter’s and Safe-dealers ever since.

 

Usually, we are able to supply and fit most types of Locks and Safes, plus open and service locks that become faulty, or where keys have been lost, including work on Safe’s and Strong-rooms, etc..

 

We carry quite a large range of different manufacturers pre-cut keys, and at the last count had in the region of 2800 different cylinder blanks in stock, plus a very wide range of Mortice-lock and Rim-lock blanks, and blank’s to suit most ranges of Padlocks too.

 

In addition to this we also cut Mul-T-Lock keys, plus Single and Double-bitted safe keys, and quite a few other types as well.

 

Our stock also includes a wide range of Locks, Security Locks, Bolts, and Padlocks, etc., plus Mechanical Digital Door-Locks. We also carry a wide range of spares for Chubb locks, and offer a Re-levering service and a service where Chubb-locks can all be made to pass the same keys, and the Castle series can also be Mastered.
